As I reflect on my recent stay at the Now Onyx Punta Cana, I must admit that my experience was a mixed bag. While there were some definite highlights, there were also some notable drawbacks.

One of the standout aspects of the resort was its buffet offerings. Unfortunately, I found myself returning to the buffet twice without finding any food that I truly wanted to eat. It seemed as though most of the dishes were geared towards a more adventurous palate than mine. However, when they did have something available, the quality was generally good.

The Steak restaurant at the resort was a pleasant surprise, offering a variety of tasty options. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for popular items to disappear quickly, leaving limited choices.

In terms of activities, I was disappointed to find that there were very few options suitable for teenagers (13-16). The resort seemed to cater more towards families with younger children or adults-only couples. We did take advantage of the tennis courts, which were excellent, but a teen center would have been a welcome addition.

On the flip side, the fitness facility and spa were both impressive. However, the latter was quite expensive, which might be a barrier for some guests.

One of the things that I did appreciate about the resort was its diverse layout, with separate areas for families, adults-only, and couples. This allowed us to find our own little oasis during our stay.

Unfortunately, the beach was not up to par due to a seaweed infestation at the end of June and beginning of July. The resort staff worked tirelessly to clean it up, but it was still quite difficult to swim in the ocean for most of the week.

Overall, I would recommend booking a preferred room, such as our swim-up suite, for the best experience. Additionally, if you're traveling with teenagers, this might not be the best fit for you.

Despite some drawbacks, we did have a great time at Now Onyx Punta Cana and appreciate the efforts of the staff to provide an enjoyable stay. Just be sure to manage your expectations accordingly.
